This is me trying to draw my own version of my favourite Delacroix painting, The Combat of the Giaour and Hassan (the subject is from a Byron poem). Delacroix is so hots, there wasn't going to be any beating his original, so I decided to think of it sort of as a cover for something, comic or magazine or whatever.

The horse faces are really good, all wild and a bit scary. And the colors and fabrics are prettypretty.

your delicate colours give me goosebumps. Thinking of doing sequentials of the poem?

I like the idea of that, but I was reading the poem again, and aside from all the obvious racist stuff, it's probably way too long-winded and flowery for comics. Maybe some re-working of the story would be cool.

Very nice. I think I know the painting it's from, but not the poem, though I like Byron too. The Orientalist painters are among my favourite guilty pleasures.

The style of this piece reminds me of Charles Vess and Michael W. Kaluta. Lovely work.

Thanks. I was flipping through your Much the Miller's Son book, which Brandon brought around the other day, and it looked really good.

Thank you too. Do you have any comics out which I should know about?
